Arkansas Farm Bureau board officers Dan Wright, Magen Allen and Terry Dabbs were in Washington, D.C. this week advocating on behalf of Arkansas farmers and ranchers and engaging directly with federal leaders on key agricultural priorities. The officers met with United States Department of Agriculture Deputy Sec. Vaden, U.S. Sens. John Boozman and Tom Cotton, and Rep. Rick Crawford to ensure Arkansas agriculture remains well represented in ongoing policy discussions.
A central focus of the meetings was the need for economic assistance for Arkansas row crop farmers who continue to face rising input costs, volatile markets and weather-related challenges. The board officers also addressed concerns affecting poultry growers in the Illinois River watershed, emphasizing the importance of fair, practical solutions that recognize environmental stewardship while allowing growers to remain financially sustainable.
In addition, Wright met with Deputy Sec. Vaden to discuss issues related to the Packers and Stockyards Act, underscoring the need for transparency, fairness and competitive markets for livestock producers. Arkansas Farm Bureau reaffirmed its commitment to strong federal advocacy, working directly with policymakers to ensure agricultural policy reflects the real-world challenges faced by farmers and ranchers across Arkansas.
